The visa the adopted child should take depends on the parents' residency status and the type of adoption.
・Special adopted child of Japanese national
→ Spouse or children of Japanese national visa
Special adopted child is, In principle, a child who is under six years of age, whose parent-child relationship with his/her biological parents has been terminated through a family court trial, and who has acquired the status of a legitimate child of the person who is the adoptive parent in the family register.
Requirements
The child must be specially adopted by a Japanese national.

∙ Adopted child of a long-term resident who has more than 1 year period of stay.

Under 6 years old in principle
Must be supported by adoptive parents
